Procedures for Confirming your Fourth Grade Trip

The Des Moines Art Center is pleased to again offer transportation funding for the fourth grade class of all Des Moines Public Schools to visit in the spring. Schools are on a touring rotation so that all have the opportunity to also visit the Pappajohn Sculpture Park every other year. Tour schedules will be sent to each teacher in September for the 2016-17 school year.
Teachers should follow these steps to secure their building's visit:
  1. CONFIRM the date sent to you (or request a different date), and provide the following information by the date indicated:
Your name and updated contact information.
Total number of students, you tour schedule may need  adjustment based on group size.
Any physical or learning needs your students may have.
  2. BUSSING: The Des Moines Art Center does not arrange bussing for your visit. Busing needs should be requested through SharePoint. On the bus request form do not supply an account number but note that the invoice should go to the Des Moines Art Center. Busses should be requested IMMEDIATELY after confirming your tour date. If an administrator submits bussing requests on your behalf, please share these notes with them.
  3. SHARE: Communicate dates and procedures with students, families and your school community.
  4. PREPARE: The Art Center will communicate with each school shortly before their tour date to reinforce policies and rules for touring groups and to provide access to education materials prior to the visit. Teachers and schools should plan to use these materials to tie the Art Center experience to learning goals.
